Dear Patrons,
Welcome to TIFT’s 6th Season. I like to call it the “season in transition.” In anticipation of a permanent facility for 2008, we will be moving around to several venues in Barrie this year. But, we will also be moving ahead on several fronts. Our playbill continues to be as diverse and unique as ever – complete with works you will likely not see anywhere else. They have been created and performed by artists – local and national – that you have come to know and love.
Our mobility next year will enable us to re-examine our roots in offering stimulating, innovative theatre. I await with great anticipation the audience reaction to the brilliant and hillarious The Inspector General performed at the Council Chambers; people flogging to catch the encore run of Emily that everyone loved so much last season; the much awaited Canadian professional premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s defining Anyone Can Whistle, over 40 years since it debuted on Broadway; our experimental double-language and double-audience effort with Shumskawsling; a double bill by the irreverant Maja Ardal and chameleonic Jason Allin; and an audience favourite Jo-Ann Waytowich returning in Best of Ivanka.
This promises to be our most fulfilled journey ever!
Welcome!
Arkady Spivak, Artistic Producer
